Good Morning.
I am up early after catching some sleep and very hard rain at the crack of dawn. It is a very hard time in Haiti for PID. One of our Haitian directors, the head of constrution, John, has been in a terrible accident. He and his motorcycle driver were struck by a car and were sent airborn into another vehicle. He has a serious head injury, a subarachnoid hemorhage, a broken femur, is in a coma, and is now having seizures and a high fever. They have been unable repair the fracture because of his unstable condition. We fear he is now septic with external fixators on his leg. He is on a respirator and hasnt opened his eyes for 4 days. His heart is beating very fast.
Yesterday we started a prayer circle at 12:30. Everyone here was praying together during our lunch break, all the staff together singing and wailing. All I could think was that the power of prayer is right here in Haiti. It felt like we could heal ANYTHING. So we are asking for all our friends and supporters to please join us in prayer every day at 12:30 or thereabouts, until he recovers, to form a prayer circle around the world for our beloved John. We need our friend and director back.
We try to carry on here despite the great heaviness. Lynn and I started our next series of safebirth classes yesterday. We were supposed to have 20 students, and had 14. They said more will come today. We shared a lot of information and as usual, our students were very enthusiastic. A really large volunteer team arrives tomorrow and I will need to summon up some more energy to host them.
Thank you in advance for your support and prayers. I am not sure I will ever ride a moto again.
With hope and love,
Alison
